Milton Keynes – The Volkswagen Polo has picked up yet another accolade, with the hatchback being named Best Supermini 2019 by the UK Car of the Year Awards panel.
The Polo takes the category win and is now automatically placed on the shortlist for the overall UK Car of the Year title, to be announced next month.
The UK Car of the Year Awards panel comprises respected motoring journalists from across the industry. The criteria under consideration by the judges covers all manner of topics from interior comfort to infotainment system quality.
The judging panel praised the Polo for its premium feel, rewarding driving experience and the value it offers as an overall package.
Writer and editor Guy Bird described the Polo as: 'a supermini that's been hard to fault for nearly 40 years. The latest model continues the fine tradition of small car quality that generations of owners certainly appreciate and quietly love.'
The Best Supermini 2019 title given by the UK Car of the Year Awards continues a run of critical acclaim for the Polo, with multiple trophies already received in 2019. Among them, the What Car? Best Small Car trophy last month, Supermini of the Year title from Company Car Today, and winning CarWow's Little Legend Award.
Lisa Hartley, Volkswagen UK Product Manager for the Polo, said: 'The Polo is on a roll – it's warmly received by customers, is among the UK's top ten best-sellers for 2019 alongside the Golf, and is on a winning streak with critics.
'It's encouraging to see the Polo continue to get much-deserved recognition from the motoring media; the title of Best Supermini 2019 acknowledges the long list of talents that UK customers clearly appreciate.'
