Mercedes-Benz Celebrates Multiple Victories At 2019 What Car? AwardsMercedes-Benz has won two awards at the 2019 What Car? awards. The S 560 Cabriolet was named the 'Convertible Car of the Year', while the new A-Class was awarded the Safety award.

The A 250 also won the 'Best Family Car for more than £28,000' category, while the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S won the 'Best Performance Car for more than £80,000' category.

The A-Class – which is the best-selling model for Mercedes-Benz in the UK –was praised for its ride quality, interior comfort and low running costs, while the S-Class was praised for its generous amount of interior space and cutting-edge technology.

Steve Huntingford, What Car? Editor, said: 'The A-Class gained the highest overall Euro NCAP safety marks of all the cars tested in 2018, even though these were the toughest test procedures to-date. That Mercedes-Benz managed this with one of its most affordable and family-friendly models makes this all the more impressive.

'From its brilliant body control to its luxurious and spacious interior, the S-Class Cabriolet is an utterly fantastic drop-top. It has performance that rivals sports cars and one of the smoothest engines around.'

The A-Class hatchback is available with a choice of eight engines: A 180 d; A 180; A 200 d; A 200; A 220 d; A 220 (also available with 4MATIC all-wheel-drive), A 250 and A 35. Prices start at £23,075 for the A 180 SE. All A-Class models come as standard with twin seven-inch digital displays including a central touchscreen with MBUX multimedia system featuring 'Hey Mercedes' intelligent voice control.

The S-Class range consists of Coupé, Cabriolet and Saloon models, priced from £75,285 for the S 350 d Saloon.

The Mercedes-AMG E 63 S is available from £94,725.
