The car weighs 2,300 pounds, and topped 500 horsepower, with a zero-to-sixty time in the 3+ second range. The primary factory driver was Derek Bell, who helped Audi win two Manufacturers Championships, finishing as high as fourth overall in the series from 2001 to 2003. The car became a backup for the newer RS6s in 2004-2005, and gained points in enough races to help Audi once again capture the championship. During the 2004-2005 series, it was the main 'warm-up/track testing' car for the Audi A8 ALMS LMPI team of world-class drivers, including Kristensen, Capello, Biela, McNish, Pobst and Werner. Retired to 'Champion's' racing stable, the car is now under new ownership, making many appearances across the country at Audi Club events, giving demo rides and smiles to members.
