Hyundai Canada announces strong March sales and record EV sales for the first quarter of 2024
Hyundai Canada reported strong March sales of 11,835 units, a 19 per cent increase versus last March. The KONA and TUCSON held their positions as the top two best-selling models for with 3,504 units and 2,666 units sold respectively.
All time high electric vehicles sales
Hyundai Canada reported an all-time best ever quarter in electric vehicle sales. Hyundai Canada closed out the first quarter of 2024 with 4,629 units sold of fully electric vehicles, an increase of 90 per cent Year-over-year.
'Hyundai was among the first major manufacturers to take the electric transition seriously by launching the IONIQ in 2017, which today allows us to offer a diverse and extremely competitive range of electrified vehicles,' said Steve Flamand, executive director of sales and digital strategy at Hyundai Canada.
Taking into account sales of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles, Hyundai Canada sold a total of 8,285 units of electrified vehicles in Canada during the first three months of 2024. This means that 28.5 per cent of Hyundai sales in Canada were represented by electrified vehicles during this quarter, up from 20.8 per cent during the first quarter of last year.

Hyundai's sales of electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrids are on a rising momentum. Fully-electric and hybrid vehicles represented 29 per cent of the total March sales volume (3,446 units), an increase of 39 per cent from March 2023. March's top selling electrified variants were TUCSON with 1,390 units and KONA with 940 units. The IONIQ 5 had a strong showing in March, with 757 deliveries, up 57 per cent year-over-year, and the IONIQ 6 sold 158 units.
The Hyundai Kona Electric led Hyundai's electric sales with a total of 2,327 units sold in the first quarter of this year. The IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 followed, selling 1,613 units and 689 units respectively.
