Carlisle Auctions Concludes First Auction of 2024 – Sells More than 50% of Consignments

1980 Porsche 911 is the Top Seller, with Corvettes a Close Second (through Fourth)

CARLISLE, PA – For the first time in five months the Carlisle Auctions team loaded 400+ consignments into their auction hall and set the stage for two amazing days of live classic and collector car excitement. The Spring Carlisle Collector Car Auction took over the Carlisle Expo Center in Carlisle, PA April 18-19, and much to the delight of the buyers and sellers within the Carlisle Expo Center offered up a gallery of investments that will truly accelerate. In fact, more than 50% of all lots sold, including $465,000 for the top five sellers.

The top-selling car came from day two and was a Sublime-green 1980 Porsche 911. This sleek-looking sports car totaled $101,000 and was unavoidable, given its eye-popping color. The next three within the top five were Corvettes, one from 2023, and two more from 1966. Rounding out the top five was a 1970 Chevelle. Pricing on the top five is noted below and includes all applicable fees.

From the first hammer to fall around 12 PM on April 18 through the final car off the block on April 19, there really was something for everyone with consignments dating back to 1922. One of the more popular aspects of the auction was Thursday's all-truck hour. This showcase time slot hosted trucks of all types and eras of production. The energy around this hour makes it a part of the annual schedule and this time around, saw some trucks sell for over $50,000.

There wasn't one person in the gallery who left unhappy, having spent multiple hours immersed in the fast-paced auction environment. The more than 50% sell-through rate sets the bar for 2024 and serves as a great springboard for Carlisle Auctions heading into the summer and in advance of its fall offering.

'Thank you to everyone who helped execute the Spring auction,' noted Tony Cline, director of Auction operations. 'From the sellers to the buyers, to our staff and volunteers, we could not do what we do without them all. Save the dates for our next auction, October 3-4 as part of Fall Carlisle. It's always a good time and I look forward to having everyone back in about 5 months. We are actively taking consignments today and registering bidders for the event.'
