LOS ANGELES, August 6, 2019 – Boutique restoration and design house Singer Vehicle Design returns to Monterey Car Week in 2019 to celebrate a decade of milestones and successes that began with its first restoration shown in the Monterey Peninsula back in 2009. This year, after delivering more than 150 customer commissions worldwide, more than two dozen owners will be sharing the local Monterey-area roads with their own custom 911 reimagined by Singer, and numerous displays for the brand will be present throughout the weekend.

Ten years ago, in a corner of a small workshop in Sun Valley, California, the newly formed Singer Vehicle Design began its first restoration of an air-cooled Porsche 911.

In those 10 years Singer has defined a philosophy – iconic design optimized for the twenty-first century -- an authentic link between heritage and cutting edge, a refusal to compromise on either dynamics or aesthetics.

Within a decade, Reimagining has entered the automotive lexicon; 'Singerize' has become a verb; interest in heritage has been re-kindled, and a new standard has been set for celebration of the automobile.

In addition, Singer's obsession and fascination - the pursuit of automotive and mechanical art, guided by the mantra Everything is Important – has found a global following of kindred spirits.

Rob Dickinson, founder and creative director for Singer Vehicle Design explains:

'Singer began as our own personal philosophy, but we seem to have resonated with something in the world of twenty-first century design. It's incredibly affirming and humbling to discover how so many of us think as one, as car enthusiasts.

The entire automotive industry seems to be going through its own period of reimagination right now. The next ten years will see Singer continue to innovate and bring new ideas to the world that look to celebrate both the past and, increasingly, the future.'

Background

The mission for Singer from the outset was to focus on meticulous restorations, on behalf of its clients, in pursuit of a personal vision for an owner's ultimate air-cooled sports car. The mantra was Everything is Important – no detail would be too small to consider in pursuit of perfection.

Singer hoped this obsessive focus on the Porsche 911, Restored, Reimagined and Reborn might strike a chord, but in 2009 there were no guarantees. Over the next few years the company worked in ever closer collaboration with a slowly growing group of clients, ensuring the combination of Singer's unique perspectives and capabilities met with any unique wishes and vision owners had for their cars.

Over the ensuing decade that relationship with an amazing group of clients has led us through the development of bespoke 3.8L and then 4.0L engines, from coupes to Targas, from rear-wheel-drive to four-wheel-drive, into unique array of special wishes developments and onto the Dynamics and Lightweighting Study DLS.

DLS, undertaken on behalf of clients, with a formation of technical partners including Williams Advanced Engineering, Michelin, Bosch, Brembo, Hewland, BBS Motorsport, Momo and Recaro, pursued the most advanced air-cooled 911 in the world.
