A Name You Can Depend On: Octavia Takes Category Win In 2019 J.D. Power Dependability Study
•Octavia sees off competition to record second successive class win
•More than 11,000 study participants reported their ownership experience
Milton Keynes, 9 May 2019: The ŠKODA Octavia is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its introduction in fine style with the arrival of yet another industry award. For the second year in a row, the Octavia has been named most dependable Compact Car in the annual J.D. Power Dependability Study.
ŠKODA's remarkable back-to-back victories in what is one of the biggest categories in the study reinforces the Octavia's reputation for delivering intelligent design, robust engineering and high build quality. As in previous years, J.D. Power asked more than 11,000 original owners of vehicles about their satisfaction after 12-36 months of ownership.
The study examined 177 problem symptoms across eight categories: vehicle exterior; driving experience; features/controls/displays (FCD); audio / communication / entertainment / navigation (ACEN); seats; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); vehicle interior; and engine and transmission.
Unlike many other reliability studies that have a high number of categories for every sub-sector of the new car market, the J.D. Power study has just eight core segments ranging from City Car to Large and Luxury Car. This means the Octavia triumphed over an exceptionally high number of competitors for the second year in succession.
