Porsche captures 600th career IMSA victory with Porsche 963 win; AO Racing adds 601st

Monterey, California. Porsche extended its historic presence in IMSA sports car racing scoring not only its 600th but also its 601st victory today. The No. 6 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963 made a late race pass in the Course de Monterey to earn the overall win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for drivers Mathieu Jaminet (France) and Nick Tandy (United Kingdom). It was the pairing's first victory of the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. In the hotly contested GTD Pro class for GT3-style race cars, AO Racing scored its first victory with the Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by Laurin Heinrich (Germany) and 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup North America champion Seb Priaulx (United Kingdom). Porsche earned podium finishes in each of the three classes competing on the Monterey Peninsula in today's two-hour and 40-minute sports car race. The Driver and Team championship points leading No. 7 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963 – shared by Dane Cameron (Huntersville, North Carolina) and Felipe Nasr (Brazil) – earned their fourth-straight podium finish in GTP class in as many races this season.
