1974 Hongqi CA770 1974 Hongqi CA770 1974 Hongqi CA770 After the earlier Hong Qi CA72, the Hong Qi CA770 Red Flag state limousine was manufactured from 1963 to 1980, and a total of 847 were built. These cars were sold exclusively to high-ranking government officials, and as a symbol of China, they played an important role in world relations. The cars were used on every visit by foreign dignitaries during the 1960s and 1970s. Following Chinese tradition, the Hong Qi has a golden sunflower logo, a symbol of good luck and long life, in the middle of the steering wheel and smaller sunflower logos on its wheels. What was perhaps the CA770's proudest moment came in 1972, when President Nixon initially planned to bring his own armored limousine for his ground-breaking meeting with China's government. Chinese Premier Zhou was not impressed and told Nixon, 'Don't Worry. China has the best sedans in the world, which are safe enough for you to ride in!' This car became the very first Chinese collector car to be imported into the United States after a deal was negotiated by the Blackhawk Collection.
