1928 DuPont Model E

E. Paul duPont founded duPont Motors in 1919 in Wilmington, Delaware. The company originally produced marine engines during World War I. The first duPont motor car, the Model A, debuted in 1919 at the Commodore Hotel International Salon in New York City. The first model E, exhibited at the 1928 Chicago Auto Show, was an experimental model with a supercharged 6-cylinder engine, but this proved unsuccessful and no more were built. The production Model E was offered in five body styles mounted on a 125-inch wheelbase and priced from $2,800 to $3,400. It was, by duPont standards, a volume model with 60 being sold, a number of which were exported.

This Model E Sedan was built in early 1928 by the Woonsocket Manufacturing Company, which later became Waterhouse, and was sold to a South American company where it remained until the 1970s.
