After World War II, Orsi's son took over and a rift developed. When the brother's 10-year service contract was over, they headed back to Bologna to start their own company. Officine Specializzate per la Costruzione di Automobile - Fratelli Maserati SpA, OSCA for short, was born on December 1, 1947. Ernesto was the designer, Bindo the businessman, and Ettore the shop supervisor - the trip and a small cadre of employees never made more than 30 cars per year.

An OSCA won the 1954 Sebring 12 Hours in addition to numerous class wins at LeMans and the Mille Miglia. Most of OSCA's production consisted of small-engined sports car including this Type S roadster powered by a DOHC 750cc 4-cylinder producing 80 horsepower. The brothers sold the company in 1963. Production ceased in 1967. This car won the Index of Performance at LeMans in 1958 with drivers DeTomaso and Davis as well as second in class at Sebring with driver Rodriguez in 1959. Briggs Cunningham placed first with it at Road America in 1960 as well as first in class with Denise McCluggage at the wheel that same year at Lime Rock. Beginning in the 1980's the car was raced in VSCCA events in Pittsburgh, Pocono, and other notable racetracks.
