DS Virgin Racing has signed F1 development driver & GP2/3 racer Alex Lynn as their reserve driver.

23-year-old Lynn brings a wealth of experience and success in single-seater racing, having won the Formula Renault UK & GP3 titles alongside multiple GP2 race wins and a Macau race win, together with his recent sports car debut and development role within F1.

Lynn's choice of joining DS Virgin Racing is a powerful endorsement for the team. 'DS Virgin Racing is the coolest team in the Formula E championship. They are passionate about racing, and go all out to win. Their marketing is second to none and the DSVO2 car itself just looks great. As a driver, these elements really matter. Oh, and it helps that your cars win races pretty consistently too.'

Speaking of the wider series, Lynn also stated: 'Formula E is arguably the most competitive motor racing championship in the world, with the highest calibre of drivers. As a driver, I want to be competing in the top series, which is why I've been trying so hard to get into Formula E, and DS Virgin was my first choice. So I'm delighted to have signed a deal with DS Virgin Racing.'

DS Virgin Racing intends to use Alex in development and testing year-round, benefitting both car development and driver preparation alike in the role. Speaking of the position, Lynn said: 'I like the combination of street racing along with the challenge of energy management. I think this series is going to suit me down to the ground. I look forward to working with Sam and Jose in testing and development of the cars at DS Performance in Satory.'

So too, does DS Virgin's Team Principal Alex Tai: 'I'm delighted we have acquired a driver of the calibre and potential of Alex Lynn. It is a testament to the strength of Formula E that we're now attracting drivers like Alex and it speaks volumes that Alex has chosen DS Virgin Racing as his team. We're excited to see what he's capable of in our car.'
