VIVARO ON TOUR: VAUXHALL MOTORS PARTNER WITH TIM BURGESS'S TIM PEAKS FOR INDEPENDENT VENUE WEEK 2017British bands saved £30,000 in 2016, travelling over 100,000 miles in the Vauxhall Vivaro.

LONDON, 9th January 2017 Vauxhall Motors is proud to announce its continued support of Independent Venue Week for 2017, offering its Brit-built Vivaro to The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess's Tim Peaks, and rising bands Yucatan, Horsebeach and Documenta as part of its wider support of the annual celebration.

As bands often struggle to break even as they tour in the early stages of their career, the Vivaro on Tour initiative aims to support rising UK musicians with the use of a Vivaro for free. This invaluable opportunity enables musicians to save a sizeable sum on expenditures, with an estimated £30,000 being saved so far.

Since its launch in 2015, the unique opportunity has provided a lending hand to bands including Slaves, Yak, Lif, Dutch Uncles, Frankie and the Heartstrings and Sunset Sons. Collectively the Vivaro On Tour campaign has travelled over 100,000 miles to areas in Britain such as Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Bristol, Brighton and London while also hitting the pedal in Italy, France, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands.

For the third year running, Vauxhall Motors has teamed up with Independent Venue Week to continue the commended Vivaro On Tour campaign. Independent Venue Week is a week-long celebration of small music venues across the UK, and for its fourth consecutive year, the series of gigs will take place between Monday 23 – Sunday 29 January, 2017. As Independent Venue Week's most prominent celebration to date, over 120 venues around the country will be taking part, and a remarkable 30 NEW additions are on this year's roster of venues.

The seven-day nationwide music programme is also supported by Arts Council England, and will see exclusive shows taking place at venues including London's iconic Roundhouse, The John Peel Centre in Stowmarket and Grayston Unity – based in Halifax. The talented Tim Burgess, author and most notably known as the frontman of The Charlatans, has been announced as Independent Venue Week's official ambassador for 2017, and is set to perform live at the Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room on Monday, 23 January 2017 with the support of indie-rock bands Tear and Pheromoans.

Other special gigs will be performed by Richard Hawley, Simian Mobile Disco, Martha Wainwright, BBC Sound of 2017 longlist artists Cabbage and Declan McKenna, as well as Cass McCoombs, HECK, Beans on Toast, The Moonlandingz, The Carnabys, Skinny Girl Diet, Shame, Dream Wife and Goat Girl; while Sam Duckworth, formerly of Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, will perform 'The Chronicles of A Bohemian Teenager' with his new project Recreations.

A variety of Independent Venue Week shows are to revealed throughout the year, with some of the participating bands also on the road with Vauxhall's Vivaro van. Vauxhall will be getting on-board with each band, following their journeys to provide exclusive backstage access, capturing on-tour shenanigans and offering tickets to gigs across Britain.

English punk duo Slaves, who took embarked on tour in a Vauxhall Vivaro in 2016 said: 'As a band we've been touring for years, it's what made us the band we are and it's what we love. This country has such a great live music scene and being able to get out on the road to meet your fans is essential for all bands. Being loaned the Vivaro from Vauxhall was a huge help for us on our last UK tour. Even more so, them also loaning one to our support act Life was a huge help for a brilliant new band, and it's great to see a British built van investing in UK bands like us to get our music out there to more people'

Sybil Bell, Founder of Independent Venue Week commented: 'Every band needs to tour in order to develop and build a fan base. It's a costly part of playing live and Vauxhall is making a huge difference to artists who need to get on the road in something reliable. The fact they are offering the van for free means more artists are able to tour and more venues around the UK are showcasing some of the most exciting talent this country is producing.'

Details of all participating venues can be found at the main website www.independentvenueweek.com. Dates and ticket links go live on the site as shows are confirmed and more gigs, artists and partners will be announced over the coming days and weeks through IVW social media channels.

If you're a band that's in need of a van to take on tour in 2016, the Luton-built Vivaro is up for grabs. Go to www.vauxhall.co.uk/VivaroOnTour or contact kate.oyler@vauxhall.co.uk for further information.
