Mini JCW Team Dishes Out One-Two Punch During Portland Leg Of SRO TC America Race SeriesWoodcliff Lake, N.J., July 17, 2019. After two hard-fought rounds of racing during the seventh and eighth races of the 2019 SRO TC America race series this past weekend, the MINI John Cooper Works Team found itself atop the podium twice in its first trip to the 12-turn, 1.9 mile Portland International Raceway.

MINI USA and the MINI JCW Team proudly congratulate drivers Nate Noremberg and Mark Pombo, who guided the #60 MINI JCW and the #59 'STEP' MINI JCW to second and first place finishes, respectively.

Noremberg was locked in from the start of race one. He ran in the top five during the entire event and had his best run of the season thus far. Eventually, he worked his way up to a second-place podium finish.

In race two, Mark Pombo ran a bit more of an up and down event. In the early going, the #59 car found itself in second before eventually falling back to sixth place. However, after a lengthy red flag to repair a tire wall that was damaged in an accident, Pombo restarted the race in 5th. With roughly five minutes to go in the race he quickly moved to fourth before working his way around points leader Nick Wittmer to take third before setting his sights on the top two.

On the final lap, contact between the first- and second-place cars offered Pombo his opening. He quickly made his move to work his way into second before finally overtaking the lead car heading into turn 10. From there, Pombo sped through the final two turns and earned the MINI JCW Team its first victory in TC America.

Next up for the MINI JCW Team is Watkins Glen International over Labor Day Weekend (August 30 – September 1). The MINI JCW Team has had great success at Watkins Glen in the past and will look to make it two wins in a row.
