Aston Martin DB6 EV Is A Winner At The AMOC Spring Concours
May 23, 2019 by Aston Martin Works22 May 2019, Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire: The radical Aston Martin DB6 EV concept – created by Aston Martin Works and featuring the brand's revolutionary reversible EV powertrain – is now officially a winner. The historic 1970 DB6 MkII Volante, a one-of-a-kind proof of concept car created to show off the ground-breaking reversible 'cassette' EV technology and prove out its engineering, has taken class honours at the prestigious Aston Martin Owners Club (AMOC) Spring Concours. Triumphing in the AMOC's newly created 'alternative fuels' class in the annual Concours event on Sunday the pristine DB6 Volante was driven by President of Aston Martin Works, Paul Spires. Paul said: 'Aston Martin Works is, of course, a great supporter of the AMOC so to be able to show off the DB6 EV concept to so many enthusiastic and knowledgeable owners at this great springtime celebration of all this Aston Martin is a real privilege. 'To come away with a class win for the car on top of that really is a cause for celebration!' Speaking at the owners' gathering Mark Donoghue, Aston Martin Owners Club Chief Judge Concours, said: 'AMOC members have today been very excited to see this unique Aston Martin at first hand. Marking its appearance by creating a special class – albeit a class of one! – is both a bit of gentle fun and a great way to celebrate this exciting concept car's future potential.' The AMOC Spring Concours and International Dinner was this year held at the Wormsley Park estate in Buckinghamshire, home to the Getty family. The sold-out event saw 90 Aston Martin sports cars and their owners travel from as far afield as Australia and North America to attend. The DB6 MkII Volante EV concept has been widely publicised in recent months, with extensive global media attention and a warm response from journalists and would-be owners alike.
