The first ever premium compact SUV from Volvo, the XC40, has won another coveted award, taking its place as the first SUV to be named New Company Car of the Year at the Fleet News Awards.

The XC40, launched in 2017, was highly praised for its premium build quality, combined with low running costs and fashionable external and internal styling.

The 2019 Fleet News Awards honour excellence, innovation and quality across the fleet industry, and are keenly contested every year. Stephen Briers, Editor, Fleet News said: 'The XC40's adaptability made it a winner for the fleet decision-makers voting for the New Company Car category. It was noted as being compact enough for city driving and car parks, while also being quiet and refined during motorway driving, delivering excellent visibility, driver-focused layout and great comfort throughout.'

The XC40 is fast becoming the company car of choice, due to its perfect balance of practical, convenient features and comfortable, striking styling. Every XC40 is equipped with advanced technology and Pilot Assist driver assistance features including adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring and 360-degree camera system. The XC40 has also achieved the maximum five-star rating when it was subjected to the more rigorous 2018 assessment by the independent vehicle safety organisation Euro NCAP.

Other standard features include the Sensus nine-inch touchscreen, a sophisticated voice-control system, the Volvo On Call connected services platform, automatic LED headlights with active high beam and a 12.3-inch TFT driver's information display. The XC40 range offers a full choice of distinctive Momentum, dynamic R-Design and luxurious Inscription models, each offered in even better equipped 'Pro' form that allows the addition of extra equipment to improve residual value and car spec without adding individual options.

Steve Beattie, Head of Business Sales, Volvo Car UK, commented: 'The XC40 has won multiple awards since launch, but to win a coveted Fleet News award is proof of its shining qualities as a company car. To have been chosen in a category exclusively voted for by fleet decision-makers means the win is particularly valuable, and confirms we are delivering the right combination of style, comfort, practicality and safety.'
