Jimny – 2019 World Car Awards – And Then There Were Three
March 6, 2019 by SuzukiTop Three Finalist in Urban and Design Categories Suzuki Motor Corporation is very pleased to announce that the new Jimny has moved higher up the league board and is now in the top three in both the World Urban Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year categories in the 2019 World Car Awards. The second round of judging concluded recently and the final three new cars in each voting category were announced on March 5th at the Geneva Motor Show. Following top three successes for Ignis in 2017 and Swift in 2018 in the World Urban Car Category; Jimny made it through the first and second round of votes and is now the third Suzuki to make it into the top three for World Urban Car in three consecutive years. It is also well inside the top 10 finalists for overall World Car of The Year. This time around, 40 new models entered the World Car Awards programme. Mike Rutherford, World Car Awards Programme Juror, Executive Director and Co-Chairman comments 'Suzuki has again seen off many rival manufacturers from all corners of the globe to become a 2019 World Car finalist – this time with its all-new Jimny. This is a Company that produces some of the finest small cars on the market, and it may yet go on to lift a trophy at the New York International Motor Show in April'. The new Jimny was first launched in the Japanese domestic market in the Summer of 2018, unveiled for Europe at the Paris Motor Show last Autumn and went on sale in the UK in January of this year. Jimny offers the latest in safety technology as standard with Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) Lane Departure Warning, and Weaving Alert. Air conditioning, Auto Headlights with High Beam Assist, front foglamps and Bluetooth connectivity are also fitted as standard equipment. Jimny is powered by a 101PS 1.5-litre petrol engine and is fitted with ALLGRIP PRO selectable four wheel drive with low transfer gear as standard equipment.
