Mercedes-Benz Celebrates Double Win At 2019 Auto Express Awards
Mercedes-Benz has won two awards at the 2019 Auto Express awards. The S-Class was named the 'Luxury Car of the Year' for the 6th consecutive year, while the E 300 de was named the 'Premium Hybrid Car of the Year'.
Steve Fowler, editor-in-chief, Auto Express, said: 'It's status quo in the luxury car sector. Despite facelifts for some of its rivals, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is still the king of its class. Its case has only been strengthened by the addition of petrol-electric hybrid propulsion, but the diesels are still great and fit the character of the car wonderfully well. This is a great car to drive, but it's even better to be driven in, with the option of business-class reclining seats that massage and cosset, ensuring that passengers arrive at their destinations fully refreshed.
Unlike most other hybrids, the Mercedes E 300 de has a diesel engine. That means it excels in zero-emission areas every bit as much as it does on the motorway. It boasts CO2 emissions of just 41g/km, and Mercedes-Benz claims that 202 mpg is possible, making it a great option for company-car drivers. There's more than just financial benefits, though. The electric motor takes load off the diesel engine for a refined and comfortable drive, and a 0-62 mph time of 5.9 seconds is guaranteed to raise a smile.'
