Outpost And Nissan Host Converge Experience, On The Eve Of The All-Electric Formula E 2019 New York E-Prix
June 17, 2019 by NissanNew York City, NY – Provocative conversation on the future of technology, curated tech-themed art installments and a private concert by a special guest are just some of the many reasons to attend CONVERGE presented by Outpost and Nissan, July 12 in New York City. In a series of keynotes, panels and workshops, industry leaders will come together to discuss how tomorrow's adventures will not be limited, but rather amplified and electrified, through innovative technology and forward-thinking design. At the crossroads of technology and art, the CONVERGE experience will celebrate the individual creative and the forward-thinking enterprise on the same platform. It's an exploration of art and problem-solving using creativity. The host location for CONVERGE sits on the sidelines of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship race in Brooklyn. The weekend of July 13-14, 11 global electric racing teams, including the Nissan sponsored e.dams racing team, come to the United States to compete in the epic doubleheader season finale and showcase the future of racing power under the Manhattan skyline. 'CONVERGE and Formula E racing allows Nissan the opportunity to highlight our leadership in the EV space and our commitment to moving people to a better world through innovative technology and Nissan Intelligent Mobility,' said Allyson Witherspoon, vice president of marketing and communications, Nissan North America. The event will be held at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn's Red Hook district – an artist-run cultural center that opened its doors in 2012. Imagined by its founder, artist Dustin Yellin, as a place in which artists, scientists, and thinkers from various backgrounds intersect, this 'museum of process' will host the CONVERGE experience. 'CONVERGE will be a major art and tech happening here in New York. The Pioneer Works space is a very special place for the community and having these artists and performers onboard is really exciting. We're also lucky to have the support of the Nissan team. Outpost is all about the electric powered future and Nissan makes an ideal partner,' said Ken Manning, CEO, Outpost. For Nissan, the convergence of design and technology is core to the company's mission and leadership role in the electric future through Nissan Intelligent Mobility. This year, the Nissan LEAF became the first electric car in history to surpass 400,000 sales, solidifying its claim of being the best-selling electric vehicle of all time1. Nissan has showcased their leadership in EVs through the Formula E racing circuit worldwide. LEAF is only the first in Nissan's commitment to EVs and electric driving. As part of the M.O.V.E. 2022 corporate vision, the company has announced it will bring seven new EVs to market globally by 2022.
