10,000Kms Across China Maserati Celebrates Its 'Double Anniversary' With A Grand Tour In 2019
Shanghai, 10th June 2019 – Yesterday, Italian luxury automotive brand, Maserati began a new chapter in China by officially kicking off a one-month cultural tour across the country. Starting with a grand celebration at the Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal, which is a blend of Chinese and Western arts and cultures, this event aims to salute China's rich heritage. Being the longest event for an in-depth experience launched by Maserati in recent years, the grand tour is a special celebration of the 105th anniversary of the brand and the 15th anniversary of its entry into China, as well as a tribute to the long-standing Chinese civilization.
Maserati has a rich 105-year global history, and for 15 years, the brand has grown in China and it has witnessed the country's rapid development. To celebrate this double anniversary, this M-shaped tour covers 10,000 kilometres from east to west and consists of four routes across China. Participants will climb the mountains of East China, visit ancient cities in the Taihang mountain area, cross the fascinating frescos along the ancient Silk Road, and drive along the extremely beautiful areas in West China.
ROUTE A: YANGTZE RIVER DELTA, A VISUAL TREAT
The tour will begin at the Yangtze River Delta, which is well known for its picturesque scenery. Along the route where misty rivers and mountains meet, the Maserati group will drive through Wuyanling National Nature Reserve's beautiful scenery, winding roads in Zhailiaoxi that lead to mountain peaks, and various tranquil villages. The tour is also an expression of Maserati's appreciation of beauty and craftsmanship. Participants will have the opportunity to experience some historic yet aesthetic programmes such as the ancient letterpress printing technique, surrounded by the typical scenery of south-eastern China.
ROUTE B: ANCIENT CITIES ALONG THE TAIHANG MOUNTAINS, HOME TO THE CHINESE CIVILIZATION
ROUTE C: THE ANCIENT SILK ROAD, A LAND OF PIONEERS
Over two thousand years ago, the Silk Road created a bond between Europe and Asia, and witnessed the pioneering spirit of the two continents. Among the boundless desert and azure sky, the Maserati group will start a new journey along the Silk Road from Xi'an, cross the striking Hexi Corridor, and appreciate the spectacular Danxia landform. Escorted by the Maserati model range, the participants will follow in the footsteps of the great heroes of ancient history and experience the pioneering spirit.
ROUTE D: THE UNIQUE LAND RUNNING FROM DUNHUANG TO CHENGDU
The last section of the tour runs from Dunhuang to Chengdu which stands out for its Buddhist culture and love of life. This region is home to extremely high mountains and is the source of tens of thousands of rivers. Relying on Maserati's excellent driving technology and dynamism, the participants will reach the plateau and explore snow-capped mountains, holy lakes, and drive along the edge of 'the Roof of the World'. During the trip, they will experience the peacefulness of the route and taste selected flavours of West China that reflect the rich cultures of the place.
The misty Yangtze River Delta, the ancient cities along Taihang Mountains, the boundless desert along the Silk Road, and the beautiful landscapes of Sichuan, emphasise the joy and excitement of the journey. The highlight of the kick-off celebration came as Maserati's latest models lined up against the Huangpu River, forming the number '15'. The Quattroporte, Ghibli and Levante represented the distinctive Italian flair and timeless style deeply rooted in Maserati's DNA. Above this stunning display, the legendary trident logo was proudly projected onto the Shanghai International Port Group building.
On this route, the Maserati group will explore traces of China's ancient civilization, embarking on a journey back to thousands of years ago. Key stops include the Yungang Grottoes and the Longmen Grottoes, which offer glimpses of the splendid cultures of the Northern Wei to the Tang and Song Dynasties. The tour will continue along the steep cliffs and grand views of the Hanging Temple and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the tallest all-wood pagoda in the world. Amid historical relics in the region, the Maserati family will celebrate the beauty of China and its 5000-year civilization.
